The Ministry of Coal in India had set up the launch of the Vriksharopan Abhiyan in 2021 on August 19 as a part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. It was launched by the Union Minister of Coal Mines and Parliamentary Affairs respected Prahlad Joshi via video conference presence of Raosaheb Patil Danve the Minister of State for Coal Mines and Railways. The scheme is expected to make sure that green initiatives promote better environmental health and drives related to going green will be stimulated and connect more than 300 plantation sides around coalfields of India to form a strategic network for better and inclusive environment health.

The coal or lignite public sector undertakings of the ministry of coal under the Government of India have had ambitious targets of going green and setting up drives to install the same to bring 2385 hectares of land under a bio reclamation site for plantation.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah was also involved in the launching of the scheme. The launch took place at the Union Home minister residence and also laid the foundation stone of 6 eco-park and tourism sites. He also went on to congratulate the coal ministry for planting trees at more than 130 locations spread over 10 states and 38 districts. The launch was a mega event and about thirty-two thousand people had joined in virtually from over 160 locations. More than 300 dignitaries of states including MLA, MP, and state government officials were present.

Rising to the occasion, the Union Home Minister stated that climate change is drastically affecting countries, economies and needs to be paid attention to. He proposed that greenery is the solution to all economic crises such as better treatment of resources. He also emphasizes the fact that the culture of the country is driven by the principle of nurturing nature and supporting it instead of exploiting it.

He went on to say that the best use of resources should be made by proper harnessing processes. Due to ignorance, the ozone layer was seen depleting and the ozone hole also formed. This leads to global warming and drastic climate change.

There is a significant mythological derivation behind the scheme launched by the government where The Puranas state that the trees are friends of mankind and that only lush greenery can maintain and safeguard mankind. It is because please provide the oxygen, preserve the ozone layer and also reduce the carbon footprint which is on the rise due to higher industrial operation volume.

The scheme is aiming to undertake measures that will enhance the ease of doing business and promote the sensation of Atma Nirbhar under the leadership of the prime minister. India is also moving towards zero coal imports and an ambitious target of a billion tons of coal production by 2023 2024.

In a statement, the union minister of coal proposes that 600000 seedlings will be planted across 600 acres and an additional 500069 will be distributed among local people to stop the proposed cost of 5 eco-parks and 1 sal plantation project is estimated to be 27.6 crore rupees.
