Sericulture is the science of cultivating silkworms and producing silk from the mature worms, as well as the cultivation of Mulberry, a food source for silkworms. Sericulture, or silk farming, produces silk as a byproduct. Silk demand in our country and overseas is increasing on a daily basis. As a result, many of them wish to set up sericulture farming in India because the benefits of silkworm rearing are substantial.

Subsidies and loans

Many farmers and individuals who begin sericulture cultivation are ignorant of the available loans, subsidies, and programmes in India. State and federal governments are using a variety of programmes, loans, and subsidies to boost silk production in the country, hence increasing exports. To increase silk production in the country, state and federal governments are implementing a variety of methods, including subsidies and loans. In addition, NABARD and Indian banks are offering huge loans and subsidies for silkworm rearing.

NABARD offers loans and subsidies to farmers in order to help them expand their sericulture business. However, the specific loan requires minimal information and eligibility. Banks will be provided with detailed information on NABARD loans and sericulture subsidies.

Farmers, individuals, self-help groups, and jobless NGO students are all eligible for NABARD sericulture loans. Non-farm businesses include artisans, handicrafts, handlooms, power looms, MSME, and so on.
