The Delhi state government launched the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana for the state’s older citizens. This initiative was launched in 2018, but it was put on hold owing to the epidemic. The programme is now being restarted for the yatris, with new routes and locations. According to a recent declaration, Ayodhya has been added to the list of pilgrim locations. The scheme is only open to elderly adults over the age of 60. This programme will help around 36000 senior adults in the state.

Benefits:

  • Each pilgrim’s trip will cover travel, lodging, food, and other expenditures.
  • All senior citizens will have the option of travelling with one attendant for help.
  • Each pilgrim will be supplied with a Rs. 1 lakh insurance policy.
  • Beneficiaries would be able to visit pilgrim sites without incurring any financial costs.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • The Delhi government has specified that the beneficiary must be a senior citizen and a resident of the Capital by birth in order to be eligible for the plan. So, if an applicant is over the age of 60, he or she is eligible to participate in this Pilgrimage scheme.
  • The Delhi government has also said that the beneficiary must come from a family with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakhs.
  • The administration has also made it essential that anyone who previously worked for the government would not be allowed to profit from the scheme.

Application Process

  • Visit the district’s official website at @edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in.
  • Click on the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana application link on the home page.
  • Begin by registering a new user.
  • Choose Aadhaar Card/Voter ID as the document type and input the document number.
  • Enter the security code, check the declaration, and then click Continue.
  • To register, fill out the remaining fields.
  • Following successful registration, an access code and password will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  • As a result, log in and fill out the necessary information.
  • Upload and submit the relevant papers in the prescribed manner.
  • Print a copy of the form for future reference. Submitted applications can also be tracked using the same site.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • The state government has provided an advantage to pilgrims in the form of the government covering the entire cost of pilgrimage for older persons.
  • To make the implementation process more efficient, the government will also provide the benefit to around 77,000 older residents each year who will be chosen through a lottery method.
  • One additional member over the age of 18 can also take advantage of the scheme by accompanying the older citizen on the excursion. The government will cover the expense of the family member’s travel.
  • The advantage will be extended to citizens who have not previously benefited from this scheme. The applicant must provide a self-attested certificate.
  • Each candidate will receive Rs 2 lakh in insurance coverage, as well as coverage for accommodation, travel tickets, and food.
  • The officials will choose 1100 candidates from each constituency each year.
  • Candidates can choose from five distinct pilgrimage plans, and more information can be obtained through the state government’s online web portal services.
